Washington D.C.- 28th February, 2020: Getty Images Staff Photographers Chip Somodevilla and Patrick Smith received top honors at the White House News Photographers Association Awards earlier this week, with Somodevilla taking home the top honor of Photographer of the Year.
In total, Somodevilla and Smith collected 11 awards across a variety of categories:
Chip Somodevilla: awarded first place in the following categories: Photographer of the Year, Domestic News, Political Portfolio and Portfolio. Somodevilla also took home second place in Picture Story/ Politics and an award of excellence in Insider’s Washington.
Patrick Smith: awarded first place in Sports Action; second place in Pictorial, Picture Story/ Sports, Sports Action; and an award of excellence in Sports Action.
