Getty Images releases new applications for Google Chrome and Apple TV

New York – 24 March 2016: Getty Images, the world’s leader in visual communications, has today announced new ways that lovers of photography can discover the world’s most powerful imagery. Available today, Getty Images has released a new extension for the Google Chrome browser as well as a Getty Images app for Apple TV.

Accessed via the Apple TV App Store, Getty Images for Apple TV lets viewers stream stunning high-resolution images on the big screen, hand curated by Getty Images’ team of visual anthropologists. Galleries are curated daily from Getty Images’ vast, award-winning collection of over 200 million assets and can also be personalised, allowing viewers to select their favourite celebrities or events from entertainment, news, sports and music categories and curate their very own slideshows.

Getty Images has also released a new extension for Google Chrome browser. Known as New Tab by Getty Images, the extension brings the best imagery from around the world straight to the user’s Chrome browser. Each new tab opens with a beautiful, full-screen photo from Getty Images, creating a new, visually stunning experience every time.

In addition to displaying a Getty Images photo as the background, New Tab by Getty Images displays the time and a rotating carousel of hand-curated images that is updated daily. It also allows users to learn more about each image and easily visit to view related images.

“Imagery is the world’s most spoken language. People love our award-winning pictures and these new applications through Google Chrome and Apple TV make it simple and seamless for people to discover and explore Getty Images’ stunning news, sport and entertainment photography,” Getty Images Chief Technology Officer Steve Heck said.

“We are seeing a booming appetite for different strands of content that are used across more platforms than ever before. At Getty Images we want to make it as easy as possible for people to find and explore our award-winning photography – these new applications do just that.”

The Getty Images iOS app has also received a major update, and is now available in iPad and Apple TV versions. The latest update includes more curated images, including the best pictures from editorial events like the Oscars and the upcoming Olympics. The easy-to-navigate galleries are packed with stunning images and users can now follow famous photographers to never miss an image.
