The very latest news, sport and entertainment imagery; Create your own desktop wallpapers; Millions of shareable images to embed on blogs and social media; Getty Images embed feature reaches one billion impressions milestone
New York – 13 November, 2014 – Getty Images, the world’s leading visual communications company, today announces the launch of its Getty Images Stream desktop app, making it easier than ever for consumers to access, curate and share its vast, award-winning content. The free app, designed for people who are passionate about pictures, offers continuously updated, curated streams of the latest news, sport and entertainment imagery. Now available for Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10.10), today’s announcement follows the September launch of Stream for iPhone and iPad on the iOS 8 update, and introduces a new wallpaper feature.
With Stream, Getty Images makes its world-class imagery easily and legally shareable and embeddable via mobile devices and, now, desktop. Stream follows the highly successful debut of Getty Images’ embed feature, which enables users to share one of the largest and most comprehensive image collections in the world for non-commercial use on blogs and social media. Embedded images have surpassed one billion impressions since the feature launched earlier this year.
Stream uses Getty Images’ API to aggregate content and includes these key features:
- Streaming: Easy-to-navigate curated photo streams across different categories – latest, news, sport, entertainment and archival.
- Wallpaper: A new feature for Mac OS X, choose and favorite images to display on Mac desktop.
- Slideshow: Play slideshows of any stream on Mac or Apple devices using Apple AirPlay, including Apple TV.
- Embed and share: Share an image directly to Facebook and Twitter simply by clicking the ‘share’ icon. To embed in a blog, click the ‘copy’ icon and paste the embed code into a blog or webpage.
Stream for desktop is available on Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10.10) and can be downloaded for free from the iTunes Mac App Store today.
Notes to editors:
Stream for Mac follows Stream for iPhone and IPad on the iOS 8 update, and the Getty Images and iStock by Getty Images iOS apps designed to help creative and media professionals search and use the world’s best premium content for their projects.
