Getty Images Editorial Expertise Recognized at 2021 White House News Photographers Association Awards
Washington D.C. — March 8, 2021: Five Getty Images photographers received top honors at the 2021 White House News Photographers Association Awards, including Staff Photographers Win McNamee and Drew Angerer for their coverage of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
In total, Getty Images photographers collected 22 awards across a variety of categories, with five first place wins.
Drew Angerer was awarded first place in the Picture Story/News category. He also took home second place in Campaign 2020 and Picture Story/Jan 6, third place in Portfolio and Awards of Excellence in Inauguration 2021, Domestic News, January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol categories.
Win McNamee was awarded first place in the Picture Story/Jan 6 and Portfolio categories. McNamee also finished second place in Political Portfolio and received Awards of Excellence in Presidential and January 6 Attack on the Capitol categories.
Patrick Smith won first and third place in the Picture Story/Sports category. He also received an Award of Excellence in the Feature category.
Chip Somodevilla received Awards of Excellence in the Portrait/Personality and Picture Story/News categories.
Tasos Katopodis won first place in the Pictorial category. He also finished in third place in the Sports Feature/Reaction category and received Awards of Excellence in the Domestic News and Picture Story/News categories.
